How to Make a Deer Stand

How to make a Deer Stand
AKA Treehouse for big boys

Start with a small to medium size camping trailer

Pull it out to a likely looking area

Jam some poles in the ground

Use a couple of tractors with loaders

Raise it WAY UP (and fasten it!)

Drink a beer or two and step back to admire your work

Build a deck (so you'll have a place to sit outside and drink another beer

Build some nice stairs so you don't have to go down a ladder while inebriated

Practice shooting deer with a piece of lumber

Can't live on beer alone. Don't burn the steaks.

An Unexpected Visitor!

A fawn followed this beagle home -- right through the doggie door -- in the Bittinger, MD area. The owner came home to find the visitor had made himself right at home. This Hit the 6 o'clock news big time. Sure beat out the McCain/Obama political news for a change.

K-9 Humor

Chester and Earl are going hunting. Chester says to Earl, 'I'll send my dog out to see if there are any ducks out in the pond. If there aren't any ducks out there, I'm not goin' hunting.'

So he sends the dog out to the pond. The dog comes back and barks twice. Chester says, 'Well I'm not going to go out. He saw only two ducks out there.'

Earl says, 'You're going to take the dog's barks for the truth?'

Earl doesn't believe it, so he goes to look for himself. When he gets back
he says, 'I don't believe it! Where did you get that dog? There really
were only two ducks out there!'

Chester says, 'Well, I got him from the breeder up the road. If you want,
you can get one from him, too.'

So Earl goes to the breeder and says he wants a dog like the one his friend
Chester has. The breeder obliges, and Earl brings the dog home, and tells
it to go out and look for ducks. Minutes later the dog returns with a
stick in its mouth and starts humping Earl's leg.

Outraged, Earl takes the dog back to the breeder and says, 'This dog is a
fraud. I want my money back!'

The breeder asks Earl what the dog did.

So Earl tells him that when he sent the dog out to look for ducks, it came
back with a stick in its mouth and started humping his leg.

The breeder says, 'Earl, he was trying to tell you that there are more
fuckin' ducks out there than you can shake a stick at!'

The Amazing Whitetail Deer

We received these images several days ago from a friend of ours and were shocked when we opened them up. First and foremost we want to stress the fact that while we do post some strange and unusual things here, we in no way condone shooting or attempting to shoot any animal in the head with an arrow. Not only is this an extremely low percentage shot, but as you can see from these photos it makes the entire hunting community look bad when these are seen by non-hunters. Granted, bad shots are going to happen on accident and that is a part of the game that we all should recognize. But purposely taking a bad shot is extremely unethical and uncalled for. For the sake of our sport and our sportsmanship, DO NOT ever attempt this shit with a bow and arrow.

The ability of the whitetail deer to survive after enduring a wound of this sort is amazing, and nothing short of a true testament to their toughness and durability. They never cease to amaze us!

If anyone has additional information about these photos or the person who took them please contact us.

Huge Gator Captures Whole Deer

This picture was taken by a Lifeflight helicopter flying over Lake Istapoka, (For those of you who are not local, Lake Istapoka is near Sebring, Fl.) That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth! ?Are you ready to go fishing on Lake Istapoka ?! If you ski -- try not to fall.

The alligator was found between Lake Istapoka and Pinedale estates... near a house , Game Wardens were forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate. Jayne and Don Hobkirk could hear the bellowing in the night. Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the Lake that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as being exaggerations.

"I didn't believe it," Don Hobkirk said. Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Florida Game and Parks game wardens had to shoot the beast... Joe Goff, 6' 5" tall, a game warden with the Florida Game and Parks Commission, walks past the 23-foot, one inch alligator that he shot and killed in the back yard of Jayne & Don Hobkirk...

Potted Plants: Scary!

I almost had a heart attack this week. My son got me a potted plant for my birthday. I kept it on my kitchen counter the whole time. This week it was warm enough to plant outside. It was in a plastic pot wedged into a decorative outer container. After planting the flower, I got a knife to get the plastic pot out of the glass one. When I wedged the knife around the sides, something moved. I told my son it looked like a snake, so he took the liner out. To our surprise, there was not one snake, but two baby copperheads. I almost died! When we took the plastic pot out, there was a piece of cardboard up the side. There must have been eggs in the holes of the cardboard that hatched out when it got hot.

Take my advice and don't bring nursery plants inside. This could have been really, really bad. The plant was bought at a grocery store; I won't give the name because I don't want to ruin their business, plus I'm pretty sure it was the grower and not the store who was responsible. Growers should take more care when potting plants.

I just want to warn you guys not to bring plants inside; who knows what could be lurking way down under those roots. I am only thankful it was not intended as a house plant!

This also applies to plants that you have had outside thru the summer and want to bring them inside in the cold weather.
